MINUTES 6/11/2008

1.)    UPDATES

a)     LONGSHAW – at the moment we have between 15 – 30 children. People are coming back and  new people are coming  as well. So far we have paid all the rent but there is not much money left. Ursula wants to say thank you to everybody who got involved – stories, cleaning, etc. Is there anybody who wants to do the winter story? (contact Ursula). Our rent with Longshaw is due to expire at the end of december. We need to think what we want to do from January. Do we stay in Longshaw or will we move parent and child group to Hethersedge?

b)     KINDERGARTEN IN HETHERSEDGE –So far we have 13 children interested in the kindergarten. The rent is £10 per morning, £20 per whole day. Kath has got a meeting on Tuesday with County council How to set up a kindergarten. Regarding the Scout Hut building in Hethersedge we are planning working weekend (probably last week of November but Kath will send email prior to this activity) and everybody is welcome to help!!!  All the expensive stuff (new roof, fencing…) will be paid by Scout Hut. We would be happy to organize fund raising (any ideas welcomed). There is Hathersage market each Friday and we can sell our crafts in there, any help??? (contact Ursula).

c)     SHEFFIELD P&CH GROUP – started to run 5/11/2008 in Old Sharrow school. It will be each Wednesday 10:00-12:00 for £2 per child. Last time we had around 10 children and the number is more likely to increase. Old Sharrow school is available till the end of December and we are not sure if we can use this space from January. Erica found a room for rent with all the facilities (kitchen, bathrooms) in Shirley House (off Cherry tree road in Netheredge), the room is £4000 per calendar year (Erica corrected the information about £1000). The room is available at the moment, there is little bit of outside space and KENWOOD PARK close by. It is a great space for SHEFFIELD KINDERGARTEN!!!  There is also a possible room in SCOUT HUT in CROOKS. Anybody else knows about a suitable location for SHEFFIELD P&CH GROUP and KINDERGARTEN? Daren and Erica are going to find out more information about Shirley House and will get in touch with council if it is a suitable place for the kindergarten. Regarding teachers – we need to legally advertise and have an interview process, Darren will put the advert on the web site. Alys will get in touch with Fellowship and ask them to put an advert for a post as well.

d)     SHEFFIELD SCHOOL – Longshaw part (Monday) – is going incredibly well, sometimes we have 9 children. The children explore the surroundings of Longshaw and it is good to have the under shelter space next to the Longshaw building. This group is opened for 4,5 age group as well. Charge £10 per child, £15 per 2 children. Tuesday and Wednesday is going relatively well. The lowest number of children was 3. The children have learnt 11 letters, they are started with numbers now. They do lots of painting, music, stories, free play.  Soon there will be 4 eurhythmy sessions for 5/6/7 age group.

Longshaw group might be possibly moved to Scout Hut in Hathersage. Monday 9/11/2008 it will be in Old Sharrow School, 2-3 following Mondays in Longshaw and last 2 (in this year) will be in Hathersage. We need to think what we want to do when the rent expires in Longshaw... (we have nice parks in Sheffield so possibly we could have some sessions in there. Does anybody know about the building or a shelter in the park which we could use?)

 

2. GOVERNANCE AND GROUP STRUCTURE – we need to establish working groups to help to push the movement forward, e.g. a group for Hethersage kindergarten, a group for Sheffield kindergarten, Sheffield school…  This needs to be reviewed in the next meeting, according with:

3. SETTING UP A PARENTS COMMITTEE,

4. ACKNOWLEDGING THE ROLE OF THE TEACHERS COMMITTEE .

5. INFORMATION SHARING – different people need different information. We need to organise separate email/contact list so no one is bombarded with irrelevant information, so far suggested as:

Longshaw P&CH group (Ursula),

Hathersage Kindergarten (Kath),

Sheffield P&CH group (Erica),

Sheffield school (Alys)

BIG monhtly update email for everyone (Darren and Erica).

6. CALENDAR OF EVENTS – we want to organise advent spiral (1 December), any ideas??. The last event will be on 16/12/2008 possibly in Scout Hut Hathersage – last one before Christmas. All information will be sent out prior to the events. Any ideas and help with preparation welcomed!!

7. BANK ACCOUNT – Erica is sorting it out. We need a new constitution (Kath will get a sample for it).

8. CHARITY STATUS – we still didn’t do it. Who wants to help???

At the next meeting we need to review: do we need to increase prices for P&CH group? Could we offer a possibility to pay half-term upfront with a little discount?
