Seven
Hills – minutes of the meeting 26 June 2008 Who
was there: Andreas, Bo,
Federica, Jenni, Marika, Ursula Mailing
list: It was decided to split the mailing list into an ‘active members’
and a more general ‘Friends of Seven Hills’ one. The ‘active members’
will be composed of people that have attended at least 1 meeting. It will be
used for more administrative e-mails. Minutes will continue to go to the general
list, as well as information and agreed documents. Letter
to Tintagel Trust: Writing the
letter took up most of the meeting. The letter was then finalised by Federica
and sent off on Friday. A copy is attached. Leaflet: several ideas were circulated, some by e-mail by Bonny, others by
Marika. It was decided to ask everybody for a sentence or two describing ‘why
is Steiner education special to you.’ All entries will go on the website and
the most representative ones on the leaflet. Drafting of the leaflet remains on
the agenda for the next time. Constitution:
see below, under bank account. Bank
account: Marika reported that
after having contacted 3 different banks, there is a unanimous response: we need
a constitution to open a treasurer’s account. The issue of a constitution is
thus of primary importance and the debate will be kick-started by e-mail.
Federica to circulate a draft, based on the previous SYSSI constitution. [Mike added: Firstly,
regarding the treasurers account, potentially with the Triodos ethical bank:
They do operate a current account open to charities and other social endeavours,
however I was mistaken in thinking that they operate through the post office and
offered an ATM credit/debit card facility: They do not! They do
operate through the RBS for paying in and and the issue of withdrawn monies, once
the bank has been notified either online or via telephone, I can't
remember what the notice period is although I wouldn't have thought it to be
long given the type of account. Admittedly I'm not clear on our
requirements of a bank account. It would be most helpful if either Marika
or Federica were to contact me asap to discuss.] List
of people interested in the Steiner education:
Bo has asked Bonny for a list of people that expressed interest in the
Kindergarten for their children. Due to privacy reasons, Bonny can not provide
that list, but will pass on the details of Seven Hills to people who will
contact her in the future. It was decided that Bo will ask Bonny whether it will
be possible to write a letter about Seven Hills and Bonny sends it to people who
have expressed an interest in the past. Activities
for older children: The
discussion continued. The ‘legal status’ was debated, as Marika reported
that regulations on activities targeted to 5-7 year old children are less
stringent than for 3-4 years old, who will need to be accompanied by parents or
registered with a childminder participating to activities. It was agreed that
most of the problems might be solved by holding meetings of the P&C groups
and activities for older children simultaneously. But it was agreed also to keep
investigating the issue. Eurythmy:
Andrea, the Eurythmy teacher, has invited parents to an evening on the 14th
of July and it was agreed that as many people as possible and interested will
go, with the aim not only to experience Eurythmy but also to talk about
potential activities for children next year. Fayres/public
awareness meetings: We are
going to participate to Fayre in Crosspool on the 12th of July.
People who have expressed availability to man the stall are Ursula (for setting
it up), Federica, Andreas. Hopefully more people will be available to come and
help. |
