Minutes Tuesday 21st April

Present: Alys, Ursula, Nikki, Kath

Agenda

1. Feedback from National Conference – Alys and Kath

Alys and Kath fed back information from the National Conference. It was felt that they had networked successfully and made connections and received invitations to visit from various schools around the country.

It was agreed that meetings should begin with a practice of seasonal songs that could / would be used in Kindy and P&C groups. This will be to foster a sense of unity and purpose at the beginning of the meeting, to support staff and parents in learning new songs, and to foster a sense of continuity between what happens at Kindy / P&C group and at home.

2. Alys’s accounts

Alys fed back her income and outgoings for the last term. She made a total of approximately £24 per session, which it was agreed is not financially viable. Alys will change the way she offers her class 1/2 group in the future – charging a set rate no matter how many children attend. The responsibility for making up the numbers, therefore, will rest with the parents.

It was agreed that the next meeting will focus entirely on exactly what groups will be offered next term / from September, so that we can then focus on publicising what is going on. The following meeting will focus on a constitution/vision, policies and procedures and a parents pack for P&C group.

3. Sheffield update – Seven Hills / Hope Valley names and relationships

Hope Valley Steiner Group is now an independent entity, working under the umbrella of Seven Hills Steiner Initiative. Thanks and congratulations were offered to Nikki for completing the new website. It was agreed that this needs to be regularly updated.

4. Kindy update

We are still awaiting a response from Michael Shuttleworth re the business park and the covenanted land in Hathersage. The Scouts have been working on the Scout Hut, replacing the ceiling and repainting. It was agreed that we would look into funding options for replacement of the Scout Hut on behalf of the Scouts, whilst still keeping funding options open for a purpose built Kindergarten on the potential piece of land. Kindy sessions will begin after the Whitsun holiday on Monday and Tuesday mornings, in the Scout Hut. These will be charged at standard childminding rates of £4 per hour. The sessions will be run by Ursula and Nikki to begin with.
