Meeting of Scout Hut
Committee and Seven Hills Steiner Initiative Representatives 21-8-2008 Minutes Apologies: Ursula, Stuart, Jane, Federica 1. Agreement was reached that the Scout Hut Committee and the Seven Hills Group both wanted to proceed with the setting up of a kindergarten in the Scout Hut building. Information on Steiner Kindergarten and Ofsted requirements for environment was given to all. 2. A list of works needed to make the Scout Hut a suitable kindergarten environment was drawn up: In the toilets: · Girls’ toilets to be given a second coat of paint · Toilet pipes to be boxed · Tiling to be completed · Nappy changing unit to be fitted to girls’ toilets · Radiators to be fitted Storage room: · Camping and outdoor equipment to be moved to outdoor store (see below) · Craft and art materials to be boxed and tidied. Small space to be made for Kindergarten art supplies · Sliding door to be fitted Office: · To be tidied and de-cluttered · Cordless phone to be fitted Corridor: · Combination locks to be fitted to entrance area door, store door and kitchen door · Jungle book pictures to be re-coloured · Doorbell to be fitted Main Hall: · Hall to be completely cleared of all furniture and equipment, except for cadets’ filing cabinets · Curtains to be put up around Cadets’ filing cabinets · Radiator covers to be fitted · Roof insulation and new ceiling to be fitted, with hatch to loft Outside space: · Two sheds to be erected – one with access to main hall for storage of tables and chairs, one with access to outside area for storage of camping equipment · Fencing and gates to be erected so as to completely enclose outside area making it safe for children’s outdoor play and pick-up / drop-off times ·
Fencing to be erected within hedging to · Overhanging trees to rear of building to be cut back · Gutters to rear of building to be cleared · Campfire area to be tidied and new seating to be erected · BBQ to be enclosed / fenced off · Cage to be constructed for LPG bottles · Creosoting and general repairs of main building · General tidying of outside area – removal of rubbish, mowing grass etc 3. A rental price of £10 per session (ie morning or afternoon) was agreed. The kindergarten is hoping to run for 5 morning sessions and 2 or 3 afternoon sessions for the 38 weeks of the school year. If there is enough interest, it may run for the full 10 sessions each week. Session times are likely to be 8:15am – 1pm, and 1pm – 5:45pm. The kindergarten will take responsibility for the supply of toilet roll and cleaning sundries. All users of the building will leave it as found – ie clean and tidy. 4. We are hoping to kick start some fundraising for materials needed for the works with a campfire storytelling session led by Matt Laurie – a date to be confirmed by the Scout Group. 5. An initial working weekend will be organized in the near future to make a start on the work that needs to be done. Dependent on this, Seven Hills Parent and Child group may be able to meet in the Hut during December. Thank you to all who attended for such a positive and productive meeting! |
