CONSTITUTION
OF SEVEN HILLS 1.
The group shall be called “Seven
Hills” and will have a subtitle varying according to the stage of the
initiative. To begin with, the subtitle will be ‘Initiative for Steiner
education in Sheffield.” 2.
Our project will incorporate the essence of Steiner Waldorf values into
all areas of education. Steiner Waldorf education recognises the physical,
emotional and spiritual nature of the human being and actively works to promote
all three elements in the developing of the child. It is based upon the work of
Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925). 3.
The mission statement of the group is to provide Steiner education in
Sheffield and surrounding areas, and in particular Parent and Child groups, a
Kindergarten, a Steiner school and more generally a centre for learning about
Steiner philosophy. The sources of funding for the school will be parents,
the state and all viable sources. 4.
The group aims to be a part in the creation of more diverse and more
inclusive forms of education in Sheffield and surrounding areas. Initiatives
will be open to people from all backgrounds and from all parts of Sheffield and
surrounding areas. 5.
The group and the activities it supports do not sell education. Education
is not a commodity; it is a value to be fostered and cherished. Parents take an
active role in all activities and their financial contributions go towards the
aim of making Steiner education available in Sheffield. 6.
To fulfil these aims: a.
Activities, in furtherance of the aims or for the benefit of the group,
shall be undertaken from time to time as members see fit. b.
Money shall be raised when necessary for carrying on the aim of the
group; funds raised shall be applied for those aims as members see fit. c.
Funding will be sought from all viable sources to establish educational
institutions (Parent and Child Groups, Kindergarten, School) and more generally
to support the aims of the group. d.
A website will be created to promote our group. e.
Public awareness activities and open talks will be organised, to make
people aware of Steiner education principles and create a community of
interested people as broad as possible. Study groups will be created to deepen
our knowledge of Steiner education. f.
Membership
shall be open to any individual or organisation interested in taking an active part in the work of the group. A list of members of
the group will be kept. 7.
The group shall hold regular meetings to discuss its policy and
administration. All members shall be entitled to attend. Meetings will be
publicised in advance and minutes will be circulated afterwards. Potential
members will also be allowed to attend and so will be members of other
organisations with an interest for Seven Hills’ activities. 8.
Members shall be appointed to more formal roles. These include a chair,
two treasurers and a person responsible for the website. These officers shall be
in charge of the day-to-day running of the group, but shall be answerable to
meetings of members. The list of roles will be published regularly. 9.
A bank account (a treasurer’s account) will be opened for the group.
Accounts shall be kept by the treasurers, submitted to an annual audit and
approved at an annual members meeting. 10.
A “friends of Seven Hills” group will be created and this group will
play a supportive role in the advancement of our project by organising events
and activities and raising awareness of our mission. It will be kept fully
informed of activities and plans for the future by e-mail and post. 11.
Liaison will be established with the Steiner Waldorf Schools Fellowship
and synergies will be sought. 12.
This constitution shall only be altered by consent of two-thirds majority
vote of the members included on the members’ list of the group.
The
group will have the ability to change the constitution as and when necessary. 13.
If the group shall, by general consent of its members, cease to exist,
members will decide by two-thirds majority what to do with any available assets.
